Peabody Opera House Wedding | Veronica+Harley

Veronica and Harley had a traditional church ceremony and a very non-traditional dance party at the Peabody Opera House. And any wedding party that wants to head to a brewery for their portraits is fine by me. Check out the surprise flash mob below. They have some amazing friends & family.

Soulard Engagement | Kayla+Brett

Soulard decked out for the holidays is like Brooklyn on its best behavior. The streets are empty, the buildings are beautifully restored to maintain the vibe of the once historic French neighborhood, and these guys. Kayla+Brett came in town to visit family for the holidays and I’m so happy we were able to meet up for a beer and grab a few photos of them wandering around. Cheers, guys!

Central West End Engagement at BHIVE | Amy+Neil

Neil + Amy were my first engagement shoot post-baby and I was nervous. But the second they showed up with their made-for-each-other dimples and sweet, hilarious energy, I stopped sweating and started to relax. Okay, so maybe I just started to relax.

Amy found this spot called BHIVE for their cool Central West End engagement shoot. By day, BHIVE is a chill spot for daily private work, luncheons, and meetings. By night, it’s a hip networking and entertainment space. And they have impeccable design taste. Check ’em out!

Stylish Central West End Engagement | Erika+Tim

I’ll be quite honest…when we moved back to Saint Louis, after 7 years in Brooklyn, I figured I’d have to give up my love of photographing  couples in urban environments for all green, grassy fields. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE intimate backyard weddings more than anything. But I crave the energy and style of city life. I wasn’t sure if I could entice couples to come wander around downtown STL and trust me to photograph them on top of parking garages. Turns out all I needed was the right couple.

Meet Erika+Tim and Tim’s beautiful [and absolutely hilarious] daughter, Anne. These are the real life three amigos. We started the session capturing sweet family photos by the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park. After a quick snack and wine refuel at Taste, and quick costume change, we ended the session on top of my favorite parking garage. And as Erika perfectly described, her dress for this shoot was on fleek. Which my out-of-touch self had to google but now I can’t agree more.

Stylish Wedding in St. Louis | Neil & Kris

It is not every day your brother-in-law marries his true love in a stylish wedding in St. Louis, between perfectly timed rain storms and far from the hustle & bustle of the city. As I drove out to Labadie, Missouri, through the winding roads blasting country music (yes, that is what you listen to when you’re in the middle of grassy meadows) I was giddy with excitement that I was FINALLY going to see the school house and property that the Schwetye and Smith families have worked so hard to prepare for this day. And there wasn’t a single detail that hadn’t been personally made. Kris and her mom feverishly found plates and china at second hand stores over the course of the year and followed the rule that it must be under $1. Kris made the centerpieces from old books hollowed out with plants, the ceremony benches made from their trees, and all the flowers from their neighbor. And most special of all, the reception property was once a long time ago a real school house, like something straight out of Anne of Green Gables, where Kris and her sisters and cousins would play. A year ago there weren’t steps, or a red door, or any electricity (great job Mr. Smith!) and now it’s full of love and new memories. My hat goes off to you guys. Truly amazing labor of love.

Neil and Kris, I am so proud to call you both family. Cannot wait until Christmas when we get to play marbles on Smith mountain, next to a fading wood fire and with full bellies and lots of laughs.
