Coffee Table Book | Courtney+Michael

The hardest part about photographing a finished book is not drooling on it…no joke. Ha! So many reasons to love non-traditional coffee table books for wedding albums. Let me count the ways:

[1] your wedding jpegs will be given life. you just spent thousands of dollars to have awesome images taken, so why not print them? [2] your book will be easy to view and store throughout the years…plus they look great displayed along with the other art books you don’t let your sticky toddler touch [3] a 200 page book can fit hundreds of your favorite wedding images…this book features over 250 images [4] 100% recycled interior pages [5] they are affordable.

Here are some stats and images of Courtney+Michael’s coffee table book below. They also ordered additional copies to give to their folks.

Coffee Table Book | Jordan+Justin

There is nothing like holding tangible photographs in your hands. Your wedding images aren’t meant to stay as JPEG files forever. Hard drives fail, computers crash, file storage methods change…remember the floppy disk? Give your future older selves / kids / grandkids something to flip through and remember you by. Life is way too short.

Winslow’s Home Saint Louis Restaurant Wedding | Molly+Dan

Sometimes rain backup plans include the sweetest, most welcomed surprises…like the Funky Butt Brass Band hiding upstairs and a second line parade around the kitchen of your father’s house. That’s what Molly+Dan did on their wedding day this April when the rain didn’t let up for days.

Big thank you to Winslow’s Home for being the coziest, most welcoming private underground space for their 25 guest wedding. They host small weddings and events in the cellar downstairs and it was so cool.

Glasserie Brooklyn Wedding | Courtney+Michael

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies – God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.” – Kurt Vonnegut

That line from their ceremony will always stick with me. Thank you again, Courtney and Mike for having me. What a beautiful day you created together.

Their wedding was featured on Green Wedding Shoes today. Check it out here! I loved reading about the inspiration behind their big day.

Home Engagement Session | Amanda+Luke

Amanda and Luke met last summer and they seem to have already lived a hundred years as partners. I had chills when they sang together and will never forget the way they looked at each other while playing their instruments. I hope they always remember the way they felt in this moment, on this day, and the words they said to each other. Engagement sessions don’t need fake laughs or to just be portraits and poses. It can be an experience that brings us all closer together. And isn’t that more fun?

Wythe Hotel Brooklyn Elopement | Giorgi+Ben

Aussies hold a special place in my heart. Super chill, not afraid to break with tradition, and know how to have a proper drink. And thanks to the magic of the internet, Giorgi and Ben are the fourth Australian couple I’ve had the pleasure to photograph in NYC. What I will remember most about Giorgi and Ben is how much they enjoy each other’s company. They’ve been together for nearly 9 years and bring out the best in each other. Cheers you two.

Smith Street Tattoo Lifestyle Session | Giorgi+Ben

Giorgi and Ben asked me along to document their his / hers tattoos the day before their Brooklyn elopement. I’ve never felt less cool being a non-tattooed person in such a hip shop. The anticipation and sounds were a little intimidating but once they started, I was immediately envious that I didn’t have one…yet. Maybe someday. In the meantime, I’ll live vicariously through my couples. Big thanks to Smith Street Tattoo [and Eli Quinters and Bert Krak] for letting me take a few pics while you worked.

Wythe Hotel Gran Electrica Restaurant Wedding | Laurence+Ryan

Belgian girl marries American boy under the Brooklyn Bridge. Big thank you to the Wythe Hotel for being the perfect place to get ready together. And to the staff at Gran Electrica in DUMBO for being the most attentive and best wedding reception service I have ever experienced.
